Hello Kate,

Are you looking for self-drive or a cruise? I've just found this in the area - don't know if it's the type of thing you're looking for:
http://www.glevum-boat-hire.co.uk/

There are also short cruises from the National Waterways Centre in Gloucester.

For a scenic self-drive cruise there are great options in neighbouring counties.
I can recommend a day-hire on the Kennet & Avon Canal between Bath and Bradford-on-Avon - a beautiful stretch of canal.

There is also the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal in the Brecon Beacons.

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve

Steve - We are looking for a self-drive and I would appreciate any additional information you can provide. We really only want to rent for one day. We are more than willing to drive to a neighboring county--thanks in advance for your help - Kate

There are 2 companies on the Kennet & Avon which offer a day-hire in the Bath/Bradford-on-Avon area.

The best option would be the Bath & Dundas Canal Co. at Limpley Stoke (5 miles from Bath) - an hour from Gloucester.
www.bathcanal.com

From there you can cruise along the delightful Limpley Stoke Valley to Bradford-on-Avon - well worth a visit.
(There is a canalside pub at Avoncliff Aquaduct and tearooms en route ...)

The other company (Lock Inn) has an online map:
www.thelockinn.co.uk

Another option nearer Gloucester would be Tewkesbury.
www.telstarcruisers.co.uk
For info on this area -
www.motorboat.btinternet.co.uk/avon.htm

For scenery the Limpley Stoke Valley is hard to beat.

Let me know if I can be of more help.

Steve
