Globus Tours?

We are thinking of traveling to Italy for the first time with this company and would like to know if anyone has any comments about them.

when are you thinking of going? I have traveled with Globus before to Spain and was pleased. I will be traveling with Globus again at the end of November for an 11 day tour to Italy. (Rome, Pisa, Verona, Venice, Florence, Asissi, Ravenna, Forgive my spelling) We will get there 4 days ahead to really see Rome. If you want you can e mail me after i get back from the trip on November 30, of course you may be thinking about leaving before then. Our tour Director was good, the people we traveled with were well educated, upper class and friendly. Hotels were nice, dinners included (at the hotels were just o.k.) I was pleased with the over all service, accomadations, and so forth that is why I elected to use them again.

I went on one of their Ireland tours earlier this year. We had a great group of travelers - down to earth and lots of fun (every age range). Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Irish history, but didn't have much advice for evening outings on our own when we got to the hotels. And we found that he got a lot friendlier on the last day when he was waiting for a tip. The hotels were nice enough and centrally located. The bus was new and comfortable. All in all it was a good trip - I just wish we had a better tour guide.

Ginger, We used Globus for Egypt last year and found them to be excellent. Guides were extremely knowledgeable; all accommocations and transportations were excellent. We felt that they delivered a great product for a reasonable price. We, also, found the other people on the tour to be well-travelled, so it was fun to chat with them about their other travel experiences. Sorry, have not used them for Europe, but would certainly recommend the company itself. Have a great trip!

Karen

Ginger, we did the Globus Italian Mosaic tour last October and felt it was great. We lived in Europe for 5 years and have normally traveled solo, but felt this tour was really good and reasonable, and insulated us from some of the usual ripoffs. In two days we depart on the Globus Central Europe tour. Incidentally, check cheapertravel.com who discount these tours 10%. We are using them for the first time but all seems OK>

Wow! Thanks for all the quick responses. My husband and I are use to just using the Fodor's guides and doing trips on our own, however Europe seemed slightly out of our league. I am about to check the cheapertravel site. Thanks!!!!

Hi Ginger, My 2 kids (14,17),my parents and myself traveled w Globus from London into western Europe on a 14 day tour in 97. It was great, and even the kids loved it! We had a great tour guide (Bernie) and driver (Claudio). I previously traveled to Italy by myself on an American Express escorted tour--12 days all lin Italy. It was wonderful also-great group. In Sept of 99 my husband and I spent 10 nights driving thru Italy--Rome,Tuscany, Cinque Terre and Venice. I read lots and organized lots in advance and more work for us but we loved every minute of it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Our globus tour through Europe was excellent. We spent a few days in London, a few in Paris and Lucerne, and then a week in Italy. Our pictures are posted:

http://www.carmzav.com
