Glendalogh River House

I am thinking of staying there at the end of August. Anyone know of it? Opinions? Other places? Thanx!

I rode a bicycle from Dublin to Glendalough, stayed overnight in a B&B then rode up some enormous hill on the way back. I was so tired I don't remember much. Is the River House the large hotel there?

Ah, finally, a place I have stayed. Don't stay there. I've stayed at probably 30-40 B&Bs in Ireland and the UK and this was easily the worst. The beds were uncomfortable, the rooms were spartan at best and the owner wouldn't take the time to talk to us. She is from NY by the way. The B&B is attached to a woolen store. All of this wouldn't be terrible except it is about E20 per person more than the average B&B. The view of the bridge is nice. Stay anywhere else.

Also, after I stayed there, I mentioned it on the Ireland Yes travel board and Michele, the host also said she would not recommend it.

The bad news is that I don't have a great idea for an alternative. I know there was a beautiful B&B up the hill opposite Glendalough, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

By the way, the drive from Avoca to Laragh through the Vales of Avoca and Clara is fantastic.

If I can think of another place, I'll let you know.

Bill

I stayed at a great place in Laragh (very close to Glendalough), but can't remember the name. It wasn't cheap, but it was a very nice place. It's not right in the village, but just (like maybe 200 yards) outside on a side road. It's a large house, and there's nothing else right around it.

Bill, thanx for saving my neck. I won't stay there. Can you tell me where to find that travel board you spoke of? Maybe I can get some recomendation there.
