nelcarp,
I agree with Caroline - if you want a guest house you'd be better out towards the West End rather than the City Centre.
Here's a link to a previous thread on budget hotels in the city;

I second Caroline's suggestion of the Travel Inn in George St. but you might also want to consider the Holiday Inn Express, Theatreland, as it's just across the road from the Bus Station.

No matter where you stay, I'd second JJBhoy's suggestion to visit Kelvingrove with your daughters. I was there last summer, not too long after it reopened, and it was filled with families. Lots to see and do, especially the beloved elephant, Sir Roger, who's been in Glasgow for a century.

Thanks all. I booked at the Travel Inn -George Square. We'll definitely check out the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. Interestingly enough, my 10 year old loves modern art and found the GOMA on the web...so we may need to go there!
Appreciate the advice!

Now you are booked on George Square, you are 4 minutes from GOMA. When you leave there at the back entrance, you can walk down Buchanan St to St Enoch undergound station and take the Glasgow "Subway" to Partick.Ten minutes walk max will have you at the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery The Museums in Glasgow are free.Have a good trip

Have a great trip and be sure to report back. I'll be interested to hear your daughter's impressions of the modern art museum.
Oh, and when you're at the Kelvingrove be sure to look at the Scottish Colorists and Glasgow Boys on the main level AND find Dali's Christ of St. John of the Cross, which is hanging on its own in a hallway of the 1st floor (one level up).
