My husband, teenage son, and I spent one night two years ago at the Glasgow Hilton. Picked it because we needed to be close to the airport for an early flight. We had just spent 10 days touring Scotland, staying in various country house type hotels. We were not at all impressed with the Hilton - especially in light of the very pleasant hotels we had stayed in up to that point.
I recall that our room was impossibly small and stuffy. Room service breakfast barely edible. And the room among the most expensive of the trip.
I cant really comment on the location as we didnt wander far from the hotel. Seemed to be in a pretty standard big city type of neighborhood. I remember commenting that the view from the window could have been of New York.
Now we were tired, crabby - the way you tend to get at the end of this sort of trip (I should say the way WE tend to get) - which may have colored our reaction to the hotel. But I found the place to be pretty charmless.
p.s. turned out that our room was on an "executive" floor...!

I haven' stayed but I've been at conferences. It's a perfectly good Hilton in a perfectly good location. What more can one say.

Definitely worth a weekend visit- try the Burrell, the People's Palace, go to a football match if you like sport, visit the Scotia Bar, go to the Willow Tea room, and shop.

The Guardian had a full page on Glasgow last Saturday. It's probably on their web site if you care to look it up.

Actually, if you're going to spend Hilton type prices why not go for No 1 Devonshire gardens or the Devonshire Hotel; or if you want fundtional and aren't looking for luxury, try the Holiday Inn Express.
