Giverny, France from Cruise Ship

Will be in Le Havre, France and want to get to Giverny to tour Monet's Gardens. Is there a way to do this on a Sunday?

Hi mfg,

Have you checked train schedules at www.voyages-sncf.com and opening hours at
http://giverny.org/gardens/

What time of year? Will the gardens be open and/or worth seeing?

We'll be there Oct.23 and yes, gardens are open and still supposed to be beautiful in the fall. I'll check the train schedule again, but I think the return to Le Havre is after the cruise ship departure time. Thanks for your thoughts and taking the time to respond.

The gardens close Nov.1. We were there once in mid Sept and the flowers were fading. However, I loved my time there, the Japanese bridge and the home. Can you rent a car for the day? That would be best. You could also visit beautiful Honfleur in Normandy, a short distance from Le Havre.

When I was in Le Havre this year I saw tour buses returning from Giverny and also Paris to the cruise ships. I suggest you check with the cruise company to see what optional shore excursions are on offer.

Cruise tour is already booked. That's why I'm exploring other options.
