Giverney from Le Havre Port
 

We arrive in Le Havre, France on the Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship on Sunday, Oct. 28. We would like to tour Monet's Gardens and home in Giverny that day. Unfortunately, the ship's shore excursion is already booked that day. From my research, it seems car rentals at the port are closed on Sundays and the train returns too late. Anyone have advice on how we might be able to do this? Thanks!

That is awfully late in the season for Giverny - not sure how much there is to see. Have you looked into other options?

Giverny is all about flowers, which are pretty much dead that late in October. I suppose seeing Monet's house there is always interesting, but the focus is on the gardens, so I'd think about other options, too.

The flowers are an attraction, to be sure, but Monet lived and painted there in the Fall and Winter as well. We are Monet lovers so we will visit in October, blossoms or no.

What time do you need to be back on the ship? If you leave Vernon at 17:56, you'll arrive in Le Havre at 18:57.
