Gites De France 2003

Does anyone know when the Gites De France Website will start taking reservations for summer 2003? Would I be better off contacting the owner direct to reserve now? I just thought it might be easier through the web with online payment etc. but if I leave it until they are prepared to take the 2003 bookings online am I at risk of losing the property I want because people would have contacted the owner direct before me?

I have tried e mailing Gites De France direct about this but they are not responding.

Thanks Buzzy

I thought that it depended upon the gite you were renting--some directly by owner(which I would assume you could try now for summer of '03) and some through GDF. If there's an owner's name, address, etc., listed, I'd get in touch with him/her now.

I think they post the prices thru april so i can see how it is fuzzy on when you can reserve. Each department seems to have a different website that is linked thru the gites site (all that i have checked had different formats).

If you know what dates you want, i would try now

Thanks for your replies. This is the first time I will be booking direct through Gites De France. Before I have always used the Brittany Ferries operator.

I can envisage that people familiar with the system might know that by the time the online bookings start many of the high season bookings will already have gone direct. Has anyone else got anything to add?

Buzzy
