I just spent three days in Girona during the Sant Narcis festival. I have been to Girona a few times, but never for this festival.

If you want to experience Girona in a different way next time, go to Sant Narcis! So much fun.. food and craft stalls over the city, concerts, fireworks… and CORREFOCS!

i did not take this video, I watched from the more relative safety of Plaza San Domenec, where it was even better because they not only had people shooting off fireworks, they had metal contraptions rolling by that also shot them off. It was wild.
The first five minutes will give you the idea!

It was way too smoky, and too crazy, for me to attempt any photos.

At the top of your photo with the street and the statue of the Virgin, there is a hotel called Casa Cundaro. It is a 15th century Jewish house and it is in some French guidebooks because they are always trying to peer in through the locked gate. They have a little museum in the bottom that shows what the life was like there centuries ago. It’s not advertised but if you are staying there you can see it.

Thanks for the report!

I enjoyed your photos and report of Girona! We visited for 2 nights in 2010 and fell in love with this very interesting city. I remember visiting a church and an art museum, and admiring a 1000-year old tapestry that depicts the creation of the world. And walking along the walls! And visiting a market and buying olives, cheese, ham, etc. I fell in love with olives in Girona!

What a beautiful report! Many people who travel to Catalonia go directly to Barcelona and the reality is that Girona is much nicer and more well-kept. It is not so crowded and being smaller it is easier to get to know it in about 3 days. In addition, you are close to both the Costa Brava and other towns in the interior, such as Banyoles, Besalú, etc.

I agree with your comment about Girona being close to Costa Brava and interior towns. We visited Girona after staying in Cadaques. And from Girona, we visited Besalu, Ripoll, Rupit, and Vic, and saw beautiful mountain scenery along the way.

Your post is wonderful, thank you very much! We are going to Girona in September, is it possible to get contact information for your guide (Maria)? Would greatly appreciate your feedback.
Kind regards
