GIRONA Spain - 1 day

Arriving in Barcelona on a cruise ship for 1 day.
Is it possible to do GIRONA comfortably in the 1 day, say leaving 8.30am to be back at the cruise ship say 5.30 pm that day?

If so, any suggestions as to how to get there?

thanks

You can take train...don't recall timing but from arrival in Girona you will need taxi to get to center. I think it is not the best idea with such time constraints. Have you seen BCN...lots to see there for the day.

It is doable in one day : take a taxi to Barcelona Sants railway station, take a fast train to Girona (journey is 38 minutes). Avoid slow trains, the journey takes 1.5 hour.
Girona station is not far from the town center.

Yes, trains in Spain are reliable and on time.
One days enough to see the town ..

Same for us. Been to Bara number of times. Go to girona.cat or write them. They sent me a lot of info by mail and the town looks beautiful.

My plan:

ship arrives 8
ship to port area 8-830 cab (expensive for distance) or bus(but might have to wait)
metro to Sants: 830-850
Sants to Girona; 905-942 cheapest prices on web around June for Nov 5 visit
Girona-Sants: 1310-1348 wish it could be later but will check schedule in June.

Yes to all questions.

It is, however, a hilly town if that is an issue and The Call, the old Jewish section that was a center for the Kabbalah for a couple of centuries, is most interesting.
