Girona airport to Barcelona?

We will by flying into Girona and need to know the best mode of transportation to get us to downtown Barcelona? I understand there is a shuttle, but don't know about prices, times, etc vs taking a taxi.

Girona is an hour away on the train and a little bit longer on the shuttle bus directly from the airport. I think it was about 8 euros. Have just been and it's a beautiful city - definitely worth spending a day or night there if you have the time. In this case the train is better. I wouldn't take a taxi it will cost a fortune as it is more than 100km. What time does your flight get in?

We arrive at 5:00pm on Ryannair, but have booked an apartment in Barcelona for the 6 nights we will be there.

Maybe you could stop by in Girona on the way back. I thought it was great - full of little cobbled streets, loads of bars and restaurants plenty of altetrnative shops and much more catalan than barcelona which I think has become very international. Not to mention the cathedral, turkish baths etc. Barcelona is still great though and one can always go back to Girona another time with the ryanair prices!

Thanks for the info. We'll try to squeeze in a day trip to Girona..sounds like a lot of fun. Do you know how far it is from the coast?

amydelta,

Firstly, here is a link to the shuttle bus website - unfortunately it's not in English but hopefully you will be able to navigate through it OK;

Next,here is a link to my trip report which might help as it includes details of our journey on the shuttle bus. Note, however that I believe the bus now uses a different stop in Barcelona city centre;

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Jim. Did you also fly into Girona and stay in Barcelona? I'll be interested in reading your report. Thanks for the info.
