Girona Airport, Barcelona please HELP!

hi guys, i'm trying to fing my way from Milan to Barcelona in the frist week of August and the cheapest mean that i had founf out so far is via Ryan Air. But they only fly into Girona (Barcelona), is the airport very far away from the city centre, can anyone pls advise???

Yes of course it's far away - it's Ryanair after all - but if you go to their website, click on "destinations", select "Girona/Barcelona" you'll be presented with a link to the bus service that meets all Ryanair flights to/from Girona

thanx alot for the pointer, really appreciate it. hmm, another 1 hr bus ride into town which cost 11euro for a 1 way ticket... any fodorites got better suggestion?

Other option is take the overnight train but that takes a lot more time and is a lot more expensive.

Try looking at Vueling Airlines www.vueling.com which flies into BCN as opposed to Girona

Dukey Jul 24th, 2006 12:36 AM

Onl;y problem with Vueling is that since it is so close to the flight date you won't find any bargains.

you're right, tix for 2 comes uo to almost 400 euros, pretty steep for my liking, ryanair is pretty close at around 350 euros...

Watch your luggage allowances & luggage sizes - Ryanair doesn't use the standard sizes for cabin luggage

spaceman Jul 24th, 2006 07:13 AM

hmm, standard hardcase sizes? (samsonite?) anyone knows if i can book the bus ride from Girona Airport to barcelona town centre? if there a need to prebook?

JoeTro Jul 24th, 2006 07:22 AM

No need to prebook; just buy tickets at the counter by the front entrance when your flight lands.

that's good to know, thanx!

Just took a flight from Pisa to Barcelona myself (with RyanAir) - don't worry, they have shuttle busses waiting after every flight arrives in Girona. Hop on and you'll be in downtown Barcelona in no time at all! (oh, and it's cheap)

Have you been to Barcelona before? I LOVED IT!! It's a really great place.

Cheers,
Crissy
