Giorgione Restaurant in Venice on via Garibaldi

Have you eaten here? Please tell me about it. The food, atmosphere, $$$. Thanks!

I'm not sure of the address, but I ate at the Giorgione Restaurant that is next to Hotel Giorgione in Cannareggio. I spent 6 nights in Venice last month and on advice from the hotel manager, had dinner at the Giorgione on my first night. I enjoyed it so much, ate there again on my last night. It's a very nice restaurant (white linens) but not extravagant. Dinner for two with a cocktail each and a split of wine was about E80. Their Sardine Saor was outstanding - fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the Pasta in Clam Sauce as it included ginger which I would have never considered and it was actually quite special. In general, I'd say very fresh, well prepared food in a comfortable somewhat casual atmosphere. If you do decide to eat here and like clam sauce you should definitely try theirs!

Well, looks like the Giorgione I ate at is a different one.

The Giorgione that Hipvirgochick is asking about is in Castello, so it's definitely not the one attached to the Hotel Giorgione in Cannaregio.

Personally, I would run a country mile before eating in a restaurant that made such a big deal of its resident singer.

But there *is/was* supposed to be an excellent seafood restaurant on that street in Castello; I'm not sure if it's the Giorgione because when we went to this mystery resto they were all booked up. This was during Carnivale, however.

hipvirogchick, how did you hear about this restaurant?

Margaretlb, you're correct in that is appears to be a different restaurant you ate at. Thank you for the reply anyway!
Eloise, the restaurant was recommended to me by a local as a favorite of the Venetians for both great food and entertainment. In any event, it's close to where we're staying so worth checking out. I'll let you know...

leely - I asked a friend of a friend of a friend who lives there to recommend a special place that may have more local flavour, not so touristy, that would be fun for my girlfriends and I to celebrate our 40th's. This was the first place he came up with, but said he will let me know if he comes up with others. That's how I heard about this place
