gioberti hotel rome
hi we are going to rome on 1st may for 5 days for a wedding . we have booked the gioberti hotel and im just wondering has anyone else stayed in it and is the area safe?

The hotel is a block from Termini station and in a neighborhood of many hotels (one to four star) and hostels. While the area is not charming or scenic, it is relatively safe, although many people think it is a bit seedy, especially at night.

thank you for your reply. This is my first time to use this site having just discovered it quite by chance, and im delighted with the results do you know if all the famous landmarks in rome can be seen by walking or o we need to take buses? |
Rome is a very walkable city as the sights are relatively close to each other. If you are in moderately good shape and enjoy walking, you can walk almost everywhere within the walls of Rome at a leisurely pace. You are a bit of a distance from the Vatican, but since you are virtually on top of the Termini Metro station, just go there and take take it. The Metro will also be convenient for the Colosseum and Forum. The Metro doesn't serve the main historic center (Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiore) so you'll either have to walk or take a bus. Luckily, Termini also is the terminal for the bus lines in Rome so you'll just have to cross the street from your hotel and get on one. When you get to Rome, you should purchase a map of the public transportation system called "Roma Metro/Bus" which is available at Termini and most newspaper kiosks and tobacco shops.

Emily and I have stayed in this hotel twice. The first time we took the train from the airport. We walked past the entrance to the hotel. The restaurant on the corner is a special place to us, Tudini. Go to my web page emilyandjim.info. Please print out a picture on this site and take it to our friends at this restaurant. This hotel is they best. Take bus 64 from the train station to all St Peters and the Vatican. It also takes you to the main areas of interest in rome, just get off and walk.
