Gimmewald
 

Has anyone stayed in Gimmewald, Switzerland? Can you recommend a good place to stay? Thank you!

Isn't it Grindelwald? If it is, it's gorgeous!It's in the Jungfrau Region.

Gimmelwald is a small hamlet near Mürren that is reached mainly by cable lift from Stechelberg which is on the floor of the Lauterbrunnen at the end of the valley. Gimmelwald is not Grindelwald; they are two separate places.
Gimmelwald has a few rooming houses/hotels but there is not much there in my estimation. I have walked through it a few times on my way to other destinations along the trail.
Pleasant enough, but a little on the small side as far as I a concerned.

Gimmelwald is TINY - only four places to stay that I'm aware of:

Mountain Hostel, Restaurant-Pension Gimmelwald, Esther's Guesthouse and Mittaghorn (Walter's.)

Murren is just above Gimmelwald and has great vies and more selection.

While I've not been to Gimmelwald, travel writer Rick Steves is a long-time enthusiast ("If heaven isn't what it's supposed to be, then send me back to Gimmelwald," or something to that effect).

Steves' guide to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland provides details on Gimmelwald (Steves claims to have made an annual trip to the Jungfrau region since '73), and he's particularly fond of the Hotel Mittaghorn. Apparently some the sleeping quarters are dorm-like, with a loo down the hall, but the views from the hotel are "million dollar". Should you go, be prepared to share the hotel with a good many American tourists toting their Steves guidebooks, rather than European holidaymakers.

Thank you all! It is Gimmelwald which I misspelled in my groggy state. The Mittaghorn sounds just right for us.
