Gifts for American living in France?

Can anyone provide some food items that I could ship to France that an American living there might miss? I have heard that they don't have marshmellows or Stove Top, but as I haven't actually been I'm not sure that this is true. I'd like to send my friend a care package, but don't know what to include. I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

Have you thought of asking your friend what they miss? When my brother, SIL, and I went to Copenhagen to visit my neice who was school there, a suitcase full of stuff she missed, OR if it WAS available in Denmark, it was very expensive. She wanted Ranch Dressing, Wheat Thins, Cake Mixes, Peanut Butter, and I forget what else. So, anyway, ask her what she wants.

Marshmellows are widely available here in France and considered somewhat of a delicacy, at least by friends of mine in Aix who should know better.

Stove Top stuffing, on the other hand, can land you in prison.

Stove top SHOULD land you in prison...(grin)

On the otherhand, Peanut butter mentioned...another thing friends of mine wanted was canned in water plain old tuna fish in a can.
And, the old stand-by, Bourbon.

Ask them to confess to you their horrible, guilty snack food cravings. Then satisfy that forbidden passion.
When I go to the U.S., I bring back for DH, among other things, Cheez-Its, Jujyfruits, Nilla Wafers and (horror of horrors) Prego spaghetti sauce. Hey, we all have our demons.
I also bring back Bulls Eye barbecue sauce and "real" Cheerios, the original version in the yellow box. They sell Cheerios in Europe, but not the original version, which are like crack cocaine to me, I am so addicted.

No idea what Stove Top is (anyone care to enlighten me?), but tuna in brine is easily available in France, as are marshmallows and peanut butter (though perhaps not a wide choice of brands).
I'd follow crefloors' advice and ask your friend for a few ideas!

It also depends where your friend lives - in Paris many American products are easy to find, while in a remote countryside village the story could be a bit different.

Flak Jacket - after all it's well known that the French hate Americans

Hopefully, no one living in France would crave Stove Top.

Do ask your friend , as this varies from person to person. My friend who moved to Italy missed Oreo cookies and Nestle's chocolate chips.

The chocolate chips might seem odd, since Italy has good chocolate, but pre-made chips like Nestle's usually have a thickening agent so they don't completely melt away when cooked.

The Oreos were her own personal craziness.

I don't think I've ever heard of a pregnant women craving Stove Top. It really isn't a "crave-able" product IMHO. Just basically a box of flavored bread crumbs used for stuffing . . . . .

Hi Ann, AlanRow posted a link. But in short it is a box of seasoned bread crum/cubes which when water is added are cooked on the stove-top which emulate the type often found inside a Thanksgiving turkey. I actual like it but wouldn't say I crave it. An Ammerican made product intended to cut time for the BUSY cook of the family. Not unlike boxed cakes. thereyet
