Flowers are always welcome.

Something from your hometown? I'm in Seattle so bring smoked salmon, chocolates, hazelhuts, or Washington wine.

A hard-to-get and expensive item for Ireland is Starbucks or other high quality gormet coffee. Coffee is the "new" thing in Ireland just now with coffee shops and cafe springing up all over. If you know your hosts drink it then it may be a good idea.

Whoops! Forgot to add that a nice bottle of wine is usually a safe bet, too. Organic wine from CA if you can find it...

I would avoid bringing Salmon to Ireland, they have pretty excellent salmon. But agree with nice bottle of California wine, its hard to get and pricey there. If you are picking something up in Dublin, flowers or sweets(candy) especially if there are kids in the household. Have a great trip, Mary
