Totally agree with you and understood what you meant. Sometimes, you have to make a decision based on the bigger picture of total cost versus loss of doing something fun or seeing something special. On our last trip, I made a big mistake and misread a bus schedule, ending up with no transportation to our next town until that night. It would have meant a whole day wasted waiting and I would have missed some events and a market I really wanted to see. DH called a taxi and we were there in half an hour - expensive, but worth it for a wonderful day we could never have again.

Thanks all for the advice. Will stick to the plan with 3 days in Belgium and 3.5 in Paris. If the weather or some unforeseen circumstance comes up, might alter our plans.

Sandralist, I hear you on sightseeing on my own. I think I'd rather leave Amsterdam to explore together but we'll see how things plan out as we've never done this before.

Will report back on how things work out.

Found Bruges too touristy. Loved Ghent.
