Ghent Hotels: Hotel Erasmus
 

Has anyone ever stayed at the Erasmus hotel in Ghent?

Stayed there Nov of 1999 and loved it. Huge room with lots of antique furnishings, nice bathrooms and friendly people. Had a very quiet room overlooking a small garden.<BR><BR>Don't let the fact that it's a one-star scare you - I've been told it's because it lacks an elevator and restaurant. I'd easily consider it a nice 3-star.<BR><BR>Great location a couple blocks from the main sites. Be sure to stroll though the Paterschol (sp?) district for dinner.<BR><BR>There's a very old (and very wordy) post I did about our trip on here. Mary: Stayed at the Erasmus this last May. What fun. Got the 16th century room. Huge with lots of furniture in a medieval clutter kind of way. Overlooks a beautiful little formal garden. Great, convenient location. Friendly sraff, good breakfast, about $120 per night. Reccommend it highly. It is a 15th century building, so, expect some creaking floors and a wayward staircase. Loved it.
