Getting to Skopolos in Late September?
Hello,
I've been reading on here for ages, and you all have such great advice and information. I'm planning the middle leg of a trip from mid-September to Early October and I'm hoping to spend a few nights in Skopolos. However, I've having trouble finding any clear information about ferries or boats there in September. I know it is off-peak but there must be some way? Any guidance or links to carriers would be so much appreciated. Additionally, if Skopolos is too tricky, I would also appreciate your suggestions on another lovely Greek Island to visit at this time. Thank you! |
Ferries to Skopelos originate on Skiathos so you have to go there first. http://www.gtp.gr

Where will you be entering Greece? If Athens, the usual way is to take a bus to Agios Konstaninos, then the ferry from there to Skopelos (the ferry also stops at Skiathos). There are flights from Athens to Skiathos (only one a day, I believe), and you can catch the ferry to Skopelos from there, as brotherleelove has already indicated.
If you are coming from the north, there are also ferries from Volos to the Sporades. Don't look for ferries from the Athens ports — there aren't any. :-) |
From Athens you can also take a bus taking you straight to the ferry at Agios Konstantinos on time for the departure.
Once again i can't remember the name of the travel agency that is offering the bus-ferry combination, but hopefully Heimdall will.... |
I couldn't remember the name of the company, but found it with a search. The company is Alkyon Travel, and their website is http://www.alkyontravel.gr/index.php?VIEW=BUS. It appears that service is available only until 22nd September.
There are, I'm certain, KTEL bus services as well, because islanders in the Sporades must need to get back and forth to Athens or Thessaloniki from time to time, even in winter. Whether that means going to Volos instead of Agios Konstantinos I don't know. Anyway, when the OP tells us where she will be starting from it will be easier to find some alternatives. :-) |
Thank you for your through responses! I was exploring possibilities, so there was no point of origin, but I've finalized my plans w/out Greek Islands for this trip. Next time...
