Getting to Port Isaac
What is the closest rail station to Port Isaac (Bodmin?) and does anyone know the best way of getting from that point to Port Isaac (bus/taxi)? I know it's a long trip (from London) but I did it many years ago and don't mind however long it takes. Thanks!

Try wwww.transportdirect.info. The local bus options look a bit convoluted.

Hi brodypetey,
at the risk of stating the obvious, what are you intending to do without a car once you've got there? unless it is to walk the coast path, you'll find yourself pretty stuck for getting about. if you google "Cornwall bus timetables" that should help. regards, ann |
Transport Direct is very useful for finding transport links, but its answers are often unnecessarily convoluted.
The bus to Port Isaac is route 584 of Western Greyhound (www.westerngreyhound.com) which goes from Wadebridge to Camelford. The timetable shows connections at Camelford for Exeter or Tintagel, and connections at Wadebridge for Truro or Bodmin Parkway station. |
Hi Annhig,
It's a nostalgia thing and I do plan to just walk around the area (I can't stay more than a night or two though it is a long journey). I know I the local taxi man can take me to Tintagel for cheap if I need to venture farther abroad. |
P.S. Thanks to everyone. Patrick, you were incredibly helpful prior to our last London trip!

PatrickLondon,
I just have to tell you that www.transportdirect.info is one of the most useful travel websites I have ever been introduced to! And I'm a reference librarian. THANKS! |
