Getting to Oxford.. better via LHR or BHX?

I will have to go to Oxford on business next January.
Non-stop flights are available both to Heathrow and to Birmingham. I know that I can take the train from BHX to Oxford, or the direct coach from LHR to Oxford.

I was wondering which option would be better with regard to convenience and easy connections.

I'd personally take the one that got me the best fare. The coach from LHR ends close in to the center of the city. The train station is maybe 1/3 mile farther west.

Personally I'd pay NOT to have to go anywhere near Heathrow airport. The train from Birmingham International station (connection at the airport) is direct to Oxford via Leamington Spa- much less stressful than going by coach from London Heathrow! The station in Oxford is not very far from the centre- taxi or short bus ride (5 mins)

LHR isn't that bad for arriving - it is connecting through that is such a bear. But BHX certainly is a smaller, more manageable place.

The express coach from LHR isn't really a schlep at all. It is quite a quick drive.

Thanks a lot to both of you for your quick responses!

I think I'm leaning more towards Birmingham now, unless the airfare to LHR is considerably cheaper than to BHX.
