Getting to Medjugorje from Split or Dubrovnik

We are planning a trip to Crotia in September and would like to add a day trip to Medjugorje to our itinerary. Looking at the map, Medjugorje appears to be closer to Dubrovnik than to Split. However, since we are not familiar with the country, it may be that it is faster or easier to reach from Split. We will be staying in Split and Dubrovnik, so I would like to add an extra night in one of these places to accommodate the trip to Medjugorje. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

have you tried contacting the people at Atlas to see if they have arranged tours? I was thinking about joing their one-day tours thru Mostar before I found out that the old bridge had been bombed and now am thinking either Medjugorje or Montenegro from Dubrovnik. Atlas has offices in Split and Dubrovnik I think. Regards, Lewis

If I?m remembering correctly Split is closer, approx 2-2 ? hours to Medjugorje. Medjorgorje to Dubrovnik approx 3-3 1/2.

The local daily paper, Slobodna Dalmacija, publishes local transport schedules on www.slobodnadalmacija.hr/prometnivodic.htm ("iz" = "from", "za" = "to&quot. This shows buses from Split (listed under international services) at 0600, 0630, 1055 and 1700.

Yes, I did send an e-mail to Atlas asking this question, but did not receive a response from them. I viewed the site GeoffHamer suggested, but it only gives departure times and doesn't answer the question about trip duration. So, I will try again with Atlas; however, if anyone has another idea, I am open to suggestions. Thanks.

I received an answer to my question from Atlas and will pass on the information in case anyone is interested. The distance to Medjugorje from Split and Dubrovnik is just about the same. In September Atlas has a day excursion on Saturday from Split and Sunday from Dubrovnik.
