Getting to Hvar

Hi
I need some help. We will be travelling to Hvar for 2 nights late Sept (coming from Dubrovnik) and I am trying to figure the best way to get to Hvar. We will have a car but have heard that you can wait for hours to get across even if you have booked. Is this true? We are looking at perhaps leaving the car in Split and going over as foot passengers but I can not figure out if there are faster boat crossing or you still have to go on the car ferry. Any advice on the quickest and most hassle free way of getting there would be very much appreciated. Also where can we leave the car in Split if we choose to.

Alternatively we can come from Trogir. Is there a option to leave from there?

Very confused
Thanks for any help

There's a catamaran that runs from Split to Hvar (and Korcula); it leaves Split at 1700 through the end of September. No cars of course.

Here's more info about getting to and from Hvar: www.hvarinfo.com/hvar-ferries

The catamaran from Split at 1700 is run by Kapetan Luka (www.krilo.hr).
