Getting to France/Netherlands from London

I am a student flying into London on June 15th. I have never traveled out of the states. I am curious how to get from London to France or maybe the Netherlands. I am Doing my Internship in france but want to visit the netherlands. Any help would be great.

The Eurostar fast train from London (Waterloo station) to Paris (Gare du Nord) is your best choice.

You can also take the Eurostar to Brussels (Gare du Sud) and make a connnection there to Amsterdam (Central Station).

You can also take a ferry from southern coast of England to several ports in France like Caen, then take a train to wherever you want to go; ferry from the coast of England to Belgium (Oostend?) and Holland - again, taking trains to wherever....

Rex is right to suggest you look at planes. We flew from London to the Netherlands for under $30/person on Easyjet. That's right, dollars. We booked over the internet. The rates vary depending on the flight, how far in advance, availability, etc. But you can see it all on line and pick the cheapest flight, if you have the flexibility.
Yep...Easyjet, Easyjet, Easyjet! One day all airlines will be like this.

For Amsterdam and Paris (starting June 12): Easyjet
For Eindhoven and a handful of Southern French towns: Ryanair
For Paris and a dozen French towns: Buzz

Not only are the fares rock-bottom, but they are also very flexible (working on a one - way basis)
