Thanks for your help and feedback. I don't think I can afford to pay for a room at a hotel near the airport. If I was being really tight, then I'd elimate the taxi option too.

Thanks once again.

You can definitely afford an airport hotel - especially if you re-allocate that taxi fare by riding the train the night before.

Go to biddingfortravel.com to learn how to work priceline.com to your advantage. The last winners got the Sofitel Roissy for $90 on May 12.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out! I ended up opting for the night bus. Although the journey was longer, it was fine because I managed to sleep on the way to CDG.

What time did you get on the bus, and where? When did you reach CDG?

Got on the bus at Place d'Italie at 02:10 or so, on Monday 19th Feb. Arrived at CDG Terminal 1 at 3:20.

NO! NO! NO! Beware of using Priceline for CDG. There are sorry reports on biddingfortravel.com of bidders discovering that PL includes hotels in the "Airport" zone that are 45 minutes away with no transport to CGG!

There are now cheaper hotel in the CDG area: Formule 1, Etap, or Ibis. They are all part of the same group, Accor. www.accorhotels.com. Don't expect the night of your life, but it's cheap and standardised, kind of Motel 6 (also Accor, BTW)
