getting to CDG
 

I'm not asking for the BEST way - that's subjective :) but how do my fellow Fodirites chose to get to CDG from central Paris?

Taxi.

RER B. To reach RER B a Velib.

We have taken a shuttle 2x and the metro once. Would take metro again.

Usually, the RER B. The last trip we were going to take the bus; but a metered "car service" type vehicle stopped and driver asked if we wanted to get a ride for the same rate 35 euros I think. At first we said no, but we got it. Looking back - it was crazy thing to do.

The traffic was awful, he tried to take a short cut, which made us go out of the way and then he had to back track. It took forever to get there and the meter read close to 100 euros!!

We were really angry, but he in fact only charged us the 35 euros.

We took a taxi once using G7 car/taxi because we had a reeeeallly early flight and weren't about to use RER.

I think we will stick with RER

We've done about every mode, the RER, a shared ride service, the Air France Bus, etc., but have found a taxi to be the easiest.

I either take the Air France bus or the RER. But I am typically alone, so that obviously affects the cost per person. If I were 2+ people, I'd probably take a taxi, unless my hotel were within a block or two of an RER station. In fact, the hotel I often stay at and take the RER is only one metro stop away from teh Denfert Rochereau RER stop, and my hotel is within a half block of the Raspail metro stop, so I can do it. But with my luggage, it is a little bit of a nuisance mainly at Denfert as to how many levels of stairs I have to negotiate. At Raspail, I'm just going down so not a big deal.

Or, I could be one of these people that packs for a 2 week trip with one 20 inch suitcase and one pair of shoes, but I'm not and am never going to be.

I don't think this question is very informative without knowing how many people are traveling together, and even then, it depends a lot on where you are staying in Paris, seems to me.

Depending on where we are staying in Paris, we have taken either a taxi or the RER B.

Thank you for the answers so far - we are a couple in our 60's - will have mid-sized suitcase each. We've used several methods in the past - we've had unpleasant taxi experiences....traffic.....lead footed....I thought one driver was about to have a heart attack. So it's not just the money but if we do the RER, we will have our bags. So I think it would be best to walk to an RER station that we don't need stairs / tunnels to access the trains. Hotel suggestions? 200- 250E per night. Is the Marais area not convenient to the RER? Merci!

We usually have early flights, and we have always taken a taxi. Perhaps 20 times in Nov, Dec, June through Oct. So far - no problems at all.

I always take the RER. No traffic jams!

There are fixed rates now for taxis. Follow the overhead signs in CDG to the official taxi stand. If you want to stay in the Marais, it will cost you 50 EU, no charge for luggage. If you don't want to deal with luggage and stairs, this might be your best option.

Chatelet-Les Halles or Gare de Lyon are the closest RER stations near or in the Marais.

Because I usually have a full size suitcase (24 or 25 inch) and a laptop carry-on I use a shared shuttle such as Paris Shuttle or Super Shuttle. I look for discounts with Viator

Baggage handling would be the deciding factor for most people. Since I only travel with a carry on bag 95% of the time, my choice of transportation is very greatly based on the fact that with my Navigo pass, there is no extra charge for taking the RER to CDG now.

We used Victor (www.victorcabsparis.com) last Friday morning for an easy and very relaxing trip to CDG. Traffic was heavy, but no major delays.

taxi No major issues for the 10+ times

Taxi..... and we give ourselves plenty of time, so leave our inner city apartment about 8:15 am for a midday flight so we can board as relaxed as possible for the looonng flight home.

We prefer RER B...the express train, if possible. It's especially attractive now that the Mon-Sun 1-week pass covers all zones.
