Getting to airport in Venice for morning flight
Our flight does not leave as early as some flights to North America - it departs 9:40 am. Question is this : is it better to vaporetto to Piazzale Roma and catch the airport bus OR Alliguna all the way to the airport. I want to figure this out ahead of time to decide which transportation pass to purchase. 4 of us near San Stae vap stop.
Thanks |
Hub and I took a taxi from Piazzale Roma. Worth it to we older folks to be dropped off at the airport's door.
We have bussed and that wasn't much of a walk and was much less expensive. Someone else can give you advice about Alliguna. |
Thanks TDudette. I think that we may just do as you suggest. I read Pepper's post re: vaporettos and its sounds as if the Alliguna is downright depressing (especially so seeing we will be leaving Venice, not arriving).

With 4 people, I might splurge for a private water taxi. It would cost twice as much per person than Alilaguna, but would be a memorable way to depart.
Otherwise, from San Stae I've used the vaporetto plus land bus because the Alilaguna Arancio line did not match well with my travel times. this may not be true for you. |
Please let everyone know how it goes!

Well, Pepper is ROFL! at some of the comments made about the Alilaguna on the other post.
I have been all over Asia--India, China, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Cambodia. Have slept in huts with no hot water, big spiders and lizards crawling over me at night. Went down a river in a canoe in Cambodia. Went down a river full of crocodiles in Nepal in a canoe. Have used squat toilets that were nothing but holes dug into the ground. Lived in NYC for 7 years and rode the subway most days. So I think I can handle the Alilaguna!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the laughs. Tschuss, Pepper |
jamierin - Noting on your car rental to Venice, Avis at the airport is open 8AM-Midnight 7 days a week.
