Getting in/out Orvieto train station

We'll be going to Orvieto by train from Rome as a day trip, and could really use some info: From the train station in Orvieto, how does one make their way to the center of town; approx how long does it take to get there? Do you use the funcular or take a taxi? -Thank you for your help-

Laua,

You literally walk across the street from the train station to the funicular. Once at the top you then get a bus to the town center.

Takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending upon timing.

Hope this helps!

US

How much does the funicular and bus cost? (approx.)

Hi! We didn't take either when we stayed in Orvieto. It's not that big that walking everywhere isn't a pleasure! But you will need to take the funicular up.

When I was there in 2000, the funicular was cheap - maybe around L1500 - which would be less than $1. We didn't take the bus at the top, as the walk to the centre is less than 15 minutes. I believe that the bus was the same price.
Here's a link to Orvieto transport on the Frommer's site, which tells you everything you need to know in great detail:

http://www.frommers.com/destinations...562020009.html
