Getting from Venice to Porec/Pula/Rijeka, Croatia by ferry on Sept 5/6
We're exhausted trying to find a way. Does anyone have any ideas??? The point being...we need to rent a car IN Croatia to drive thru Slovenia and then Croatia so we can drop it off in Dubrovnik..and avoid horrendous drop-off charges. We've had ZERO luck trying to find a way to do this.
(And if that's not the worst...try to find a way to get from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Greece...without costing a bazillion dollars and taking multiple days.)
Makes ya wanna just go to Cleveland....or Little Rock...and call it a day.

Have you tried www.economycarrentals.com ?
I just put in a random search, picking up in Rijeka and dropping off in Dubrovnik for a week in September and the costs are coming up between 252 and 700 USD depending on size of car, automatic, etc.
I've used this agency before, and found them good. What is more, they allow you to drive into other countries (with the relevant cross-border card which you add to your booking) and take the vehicle on ferries. Some of the bigger car rental companies don't allow you to do this. There is no extra charge for driving into SLovenia.
Being an agency they place you with a rental company. First time I was with a small local company, next week I am renting through them again and have been put with Sixt.
Good luck with this.

I misread your question - I thought you meant were having zero luck finding a car rental.
AS for ferries, have a look here...
http://www.find-croatia.com/ferries-croatia/
There seems to be a ferry leaving Venice for Porec at 17.00 Weds, Fri, Sat). Also ferries to Piran (Weds, Thurs, Sat, Sun - including 5th September) and Rovinj (Weds, Fri, Sat) and there's one to Rabac on 6th September.
Hope this helps.

These are two of the operators running between Venezia and Croatia. Schedules are aimed at people making day trips to Venezia, so vessels usually sail from Venezia in the evening.

Getting from Dubrovnik to Greece should take one day: take an overnight ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari, spend a day in Italy, then take an overnight ferry to Greece.

Please note however that Venezia Lines is used mainly for day-trippers in Venice, which means that you will hear an obnoxious tour guide yapper in 5 different languages about the program in Venice, the gondola ride, the duty free cigarettes, etc. After 2 hours of incessant blabla at 7 in the morning, I wanted to jump off the boat!
