Getting From Nice Back to Chicago

Hello,
My daughter will be in Nice in early June. She has a ticket to fly out of London Heathrow but all the flights we have found so far do not go into Heathrow and do not leave enough time to get there from the other London area airports. I said I would look into trying to just fly her home from Nice and forget going to London. I am having trouble finding any web sites for flights originating in Europe and going to the US HELP!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated !
Thanks

MaryPPP,

If it's any help, I know that Delta/Air France fly from Nice to JFK in New York. Your daughter could then connect to Chicago.

Good luck!

Expedia? Ask for a roundtripbeginning in Nice and plan on discarding the return Chicago-Nice segment..probably cheaper than one-way.

If that won;t work because the first segment isn't domestic then try www.opodo.com

With the exception of the no-frills airlines such as Ryanair & Easyjet any major flight search engine will do the trick ... Just put the airport code in and voilà ! I ran across a "super-site" recently -- it has a funny name -- with Xs in it? Anyway it claimed to search other sites as well. I've done well in my planning using yahoo travel and orbitz.

Another idea is to have her spend the night in London on the way back. Since the tickets aren't "linked" farewise -- it won't affect anything other than adding a hotel.

Expedia works fine if you go to www.expedia.co.uk rather than expedia.com
I often use expedia.co.uk to price tickets from Europe to various spots in the U.S.

By the way, BA's flight 343 goes from Nice to Heathrow; she can then connect on AA flight 47 straight back to Chicago.

Another option to consider is flying or taking a TGV train to Paris & either non-stop from Paris home or Paris/LHR home. There will be more flights to choose from.

FYI-low cost inter Europe flights on
applefares.com
skyscanner.cm

Air France, who is a Delta partner, has all sorts of flight departing Nice to US and O'Hare..most would probably go via Cincinnati or others before O'Hare...I pulled up many flights.......

Mary, just happened to notice BMI (British Midlands) flies NCE/LHR as does BA. Have you checked that? Wondering also if availability is an issue since the Cannes film festival & the Monte Carlo Grand Prix are both end of May.

There are no direct flights from Nice to Chicago, the only direct flight to Nice from the US is through New York.

Have flown back from Nice a couple of times (first one 15 days after 911). The first time I changed planes in Amsterdam the second in Munich. I prefer Munich because it is a MUCH smaller airport and easier to navigate through (plus great sausages).

I would never go through New York, have never done it but just the idea scares me. I have always prefered to change planes in europe than the us, it seems more organized over there and eventhough I don't speak any other language it has always been easier.

Any way about it she will have to change planes in a fairly large airport, try to find out where you are most comfortable with.

I agee with the above poster - avoid changing in the U.S. at all costs, When you arrive in the us you have to go though customs - it does not matter if you are at your final destination or not, that means you have to your bag have it checked then recheck it to a new plane. Fly from Nice(or TGV) to Paris, or London frankfurt madrid amsterdam or munich, all of these cities have non-stop air to chicago, from Frankfurt you can fly Lufthasa or UAL. united and american both have non-stops to from Paris and London.
Also Consider Milan - not to far from Nice UAL has non-stops from milan to Chicago
