Getting from Milan to Lake Como

Appreciate your advice for best way for a family of 5 to get to Lake como and back. We will be spending 2nigts/3 days before flying out of Milan. Train/car/??? Thanks very much. Regards and any family hotel recommendations would be great also.

The train is so much easier.

Trains run from both Milan train stations to the city of Como (about a 40-minute ride). From there you can take the hydofoil which stops at many towns on the lake.
You're in for three glorious days!

Thanks for the help. Are day-trips over to Lake Como OK or does it make much more sense to stay there? We do have a great deal(points) on a Milan Hotel. Thanks a lot.

You can visit Lake Como on a daytrip; the town of Bellagio is quite beautiful, with at least two nearby villas open to the public. No shortage of good places to eat, or stuff to buy!

We have just got back from our trip and went to Como as a day trip from Milan. We travelled by train and it was and easy day trip. The area is beautiful and I would have loved to have spent a night or 2 there and explored the other towns.
