Anna1013, you have received a lot of good advice here, Fodors is a fantastic resource. We drove, but then I was staying in Dorset so it was a different story altogether. You will have to weigh up the advantages of flexibility vs cost vs less hassle. Are you locked into staying in London the whole time? Could you (if you drove) allow a night in the countryside allowing you to see more things and not have to do the big rush back with the car on the same day. Whilst I really enjoyed Stourhead I don't know that I would fork out nearly a hundred pounds to get there. Not really helping I know, sorry. I did mean to rent in London to save the train costs. If you booked a car from overseas it could be cheaper, but for one day it probably isn't worth locking yourselves in. You could see Stonehenge as you go past!!The picking at Heathrow sounded like a good idea. Find out train costs to there and look on the internet for some prices of cars. Good luck, Schnauzer
