Getting from Italy to Greece

Hi, I plan on spending two weeks in Italy, ending at Naples and then I plan on spending at least 10 days in Greece. What is the easiest way to get from there to Greece? I know there are ferries, but would it be simpler to fly? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Fly if you wish. I've never done it. I take the train to Brindisi and the ferry to Patra. It is all part of the adventure of travel. How I love it. In fact I met a young lady on that ferry many years ago and we helped make each other's Athens visit that much better.

There's no flight between Naples and Athens. You'd have to fly out of Rome or Milan.

Aegean Airlines has cheap flights from Milan and Rome to Athens. Most of the ferries are overnight trips and take up a lot of time.

If you really can't stand the thought of the ferry, and if you have to go back up to Milan, take easyjet, they're way cheaper than aegean.

It might even pay to take a Meridiana flight from Napoli to Milano-Linate, and easyjet from Malpensa to Athens.

But for that real travel experience with salt in your face and proven seaworthiness (or not...), take the ferry.

I'd take the train to Bari and the Superfast ferry to Igoumenitsa. Ofcourse, it depends where in Greecfe you want to go to as to which method is best.

"take the train to Brindisi and the ferry to Patra"

This was our plan until I realized it was much cheaper and MUCH faster to fly from Rome to Athens.
