Getting from Heathrow to Gatwick
I am flying to Florence next week. My British Airways flight arrives in Heathrow. My connecting flight to Pisa leaves from Gatwick. What is the cheapest way to travel between these airports? I have plenty of time between flights.Where are the airports in relation to each other?

Windows:
The cheapest way is the tube from LHR to Victoria Station, then the Gatwick Express from Victoria Station to LGW, which cost GBP11.00 and runs every 15 minutes. The ride takes 33 minutes and is nonstop. John |

There is a frequent non-stop SpeedLink bus that connects the two airports. It is by far the easiest way. If you take Windows' suggestion you would have a 45 minute tube ride a 35 minute train ride and several escalators stairs and long walks schlepping your luggage. The Gatwick Express train is very convenient - IF you are leaving from central London, but not if transferring from LHR.
If you take the airport coach, your bags are stowed below and you are dropped off at the terminal. And the fare is less than the tube plus train option. |

Janis is absolutely correct. The SpeedLink bus is by far the best way to go between the airports.

The airports are on opposites sides of London. There is no train link between the 2. There is coach (bus) service. I think there are 2 different bus companies and I think 1 is slightly more $ than the other. The drive on the bus should be about an hour or so but traffic can be so bad, some have posted the trip took up to 3 hrs! It's not fun but if you have plenty of time it isn't that painful. Have a great trip.

Folks,
Gobycoach.com is cheaper, one way service is 15BP, whereas Speedlink is 17BP. Gobycoach.com is run by the national bus company. They bought out JetLink, so now it's only the 2 left. Both bus companies use A/C, washroom busses, so go with the cheaper. Have a great trip! |
AAFreq - I see by their website that you can purchase tickets on their site. RT is 20GBP. Can you get tickets equally easy when you arrive? And if so, where do you go from Terminal 3?

Everything you need to know is at www.baa.co.uk/main/airports/heathrow. Click on "Getting Here" under "Airport Information." Then click on "By Bus or Coach." You'll find written directions and a link to click that will show you a map.
