Getting from Heathrow to 110 Cromwell (Gloucester Sta) and Information on electric converters
 

We leave Monday for England, Scotland and Ireland. Thanks to all for good advice on the trip. Our first time. We still are trying to decide the best way to get from Heathrow to our hotel which is located at 110 Cromwell. Does anyone know if the Gloucester tube station is fairly close to that address? Or would it be better to take a taxi?

Also, we purchased an electric converter but it says on the directions that it cannot be used for low wattage appliances or electronic equipment. What do you do about recharging batteries for a camcorder which is low wattage?

Any help on the above will be appreciated.

I would guess the tube station is very close to 110 Gloucester rd. We recently stayed at a hotel at 100 Gloucester Rd, which was only 5 minute walk from the station. Just exit the station, turn left and walk 20 metres and the road you will be facing is Gloucester Rd.

The answer is .5km, which is pretty close.

A taxi would be easier and 4 times the price. The tube from Heathrow goes to Gloucester Road.

Also we don't say "Cromwell" here. We give it it's fullname..Cromwell Road.

Sorry, I don't understand electricity

Regarding electricity, check www.voltagevalet.com. Also consult your camcorder manual for recharging in Europe. I have a Sony, and it is ok to use on 120 to 240 volt. Be sure you have the right adapter. Two different one used in England.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like we can plan to take the tube unless we're just beat after the flight. Also thanks Jerwick for the suggestion to read the manual...sure enough it says we can use it with 220-240 foreign volts. Sheila sorry for cutting Cromwell short. I shall always remember to say Cromwell Road! Hope your day turned out to be a pleasant one!

Although you can plug your camcorder in to recharge its batteries, you will need an adapter to make our American plugs fit into a UK wall socket.

You'll love your London neighborhood. Don't miss walking through the aisles at Sainsbury's and Waitrose. You can get great teas and cookies there to bring back as souvenirs. Sainsbury's also has super sandwiches. Take a couple and a few drinks and picnic in Hyde Park on a lovely afternoon or evening. Boots in the little Gloucester Arcade has great cosmetics.

The Italian restaurants on Cromwell Road are pretty decent. The woman in Bobo's Bubbles will do your wash for you if you need laundry service.

If you're beat and decide to taxi from Heathrow, it will cost you about 50 bucks as I recall. If you use the tube be warned, Gloucester Road station has several staircases that must be navigated to get from the Picadilly Line to the elevator that takes you to the surface.
