getting from Girona Airport to Barcelona

Hello - we're looking at going from London to Barcelona, and of course the cheap fare is via Ryan Air. I'm a bit thrown that they fly in to Girona Airport - no surprise there, but it's 60+ miles in to Barcelona! I've read online that there's a bus service, but can't find details anywhere. Ryan Air arrives 6:45 in the evening - anyone had experience with this? Thanks!

Neither of these seem to be the bus I considered using several years ago, but perhaps the names/routes have changed. We were considering flying into Girona, but changed plans. At that time there were buses timed to meet the flights and travel time was about an hour.

You will not have any problem. There are buses to meet each Ryanair flight. As you walk out of the airport turn right, walk a few yards to the parking place and you will see the booth where they sell the tickets. It takes 90 mn to get to the center of Barcelona, tickets were €21 both ways last fall. The bus stop is very close to the Arch of Triumph in Barcelona (metro and city bus stops + taxi stand at the bus station)

I love this forum - thank you all for your quick help on this.
Pvoyageuse: what I found elsewhere was that we'd be dumped into the Bus Station North (Estacion de Autobuses Nord) and not the Arch of Triumph - and my worry is: what if the Ryan Air flight is delayed - does the bus wait?
Arch of Triumph sounds kind of better to me than the bus station, even though I do know that Spain is a late night city, so it's not like it will be too deserted. And of course I'm basing this on the neighborhoods where bus stations are here!
Any more info that would help me out? Thanks!

The bus will wait until the flight lands. Although Ryanair have an awful name for trying to screw every last penny out of you, they do usually arrive fairly well on time.

Buses run frequently from Girona airport to Barcelona. Their one and only business are the passengers travelling with Ryanair, so they won't leave the airport empty to be "on time".
If you get into Barcelona by 9pm, you still have one hour to get your stuff to your hotel until peak dinner time.

The bus terminus Estacio de Nord IS the one near Arc de Triomf. The neighborhood is nothing to fear, and you can easily walk to the Arc de Triomf metro station. Last month, that metro station had still been under construction/ renovation. It did not affect the train traffic, but you may not find escalators or elevators.
As your final destination is probably (?) somewhere in central Barcelona, you should simply take a cab from the bus station. You will hardly pay more than €10 to any centrally-located hotel or apartment.

As Cowboy says, buses between Girona and Barcelona are very frequent and are not run by Ryanair. Estacion del Nord is a 2 mn walk from Arch of Triumph and you have absolutely nothing to fear about the neighborhood. If you don't want to walk, there are always taxis waiting at the bus station.
