getting from ciampino airport to leonardo da vinci airport?
 

please help.
i am arriving in to ciampino at 8pm and am leaving fiumicino -leonardo da vince airport at 12 the next day for an international flight.
would it be wise to stay at an airport hotel overnight, rather than going in to rome central and then leave the next morn?

and if so, what's the best way of doing this?
how much would i taxi cost, or are there direct shuttles between the two airports
any advice greatly appreciated

We stayed at the Holiday Inn EUR Parc Medici, which is a very nice International-style hotel about 10 min from FCO, with free shuttle service.

However, next time we will stay in Rome for the last night.

There is a shuttle (8E)from Ciampino to Rome that serves budget flights. www.terravision.it Stay in Rome the last night and take the train (11E per person)or use a limo service (about 35E booked in advance)to get to FCO.

you both suggest staying in central rome.
would you mind telling me why?
i would have thought it made more sense regarding time to just stay out airport way.
by the time we get into town, i imagine it will be 9'ish and then we will have to leave around 9.30ish to be at the airport round 10??

With those times, you're right-you need to be at the airport 3 hours before departure for an international flight, so it makes sense to stay at an airport hotel, either the Holiday Inn EUR, with its shuttle service to FCO, or there's the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport right at FCO as well.

They do, but the Hilton is practically right there on the airport property, however it still has a shuttle to take you around to the terminals. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn, it's further out, has a nice little garden patio, pool, good buffet breakfast, not much around there, but there is a pizza joint down the street I believe. The Holiday Inn is quite nice, and quite a bit less expensive than the Hilton, if that's important. The shuttle service is on a schedule.

I suggested staying in Rome because I would prefer to do that and have a nice dinner since it will be dinner time when you arrive. I love Rome at night and would much prefer being there than at the airport, especially since you don't have an early flight.

Since you have decided not to, I would suggest contacting one of the limo services for transportation between CIA and FCO. They will likely be cheaper than a taxi although most have a night supplement. I've used www.limoservicerome.com and there are many positive comments about them if you do a search. Don't confuse them with limoservice(s)rome as people have had problems with them. Another popular (and maybe cheaper) choice is www.romeshuttlelimousine.

The Hilton Garden Inn is new and has also had positive reviews.

I would stay in Rome because it is Rome.

The Holiday Inn EUR Parc Medici has a nice restaurant, and they make an excellent breakfast.

Email them to get the shuttle schedule.

They will give you a plastic card to unlock the door.

This card goes in a slot on the wall behind the door in order for you to turn on the lights.

we are stopping in rome in the beginning of our trip, so i guess we would like to just relax and thus stop at the hotel.
i will look into the limo services between airports- seems odd that they are cheaper than taxis.
are there definitely no buses? i looked at the terravision site but it doesnt serve my airline- easyjet.
but then again it is our last night of our holiday!!
