Getting from CDG to Nice
 

I think that I may have a big problem. My husband and I are flying directly into Nice in early May, but I booked our three adult children into CDG with our frequent flier miles. Now I have to get all three of them from Paris to Nice. I thought domestic flights in France were inexpensive, but it's $390 per person on Air France for a one-way! Will the prices come down? Should I wait? I tried Easyjet, but they haven't published any schedules yet. There are flights out of Orly. Should I book that and try to get the kids from CDG to Orly? Should they take the train to Nice? This is my first time to Europe and I'm just not sure how easy it is to get around.

I do not know if the prices will reduce, however in May this year I flew from Nice to Paris Orly for A$87- this ticket was booked about 2 months prior to that, so I would suggest that you keep watching the prices. We flew around 9am & the flight took around 1.5 hours. If you use the TGV, connection is easy within the airport. TGVs are very comfortable, however the time to Nice is around 6 hours- this could work if your family wants an easy day to recover from the trip/jet lag etc. It would also provide an opportunity to see parts of France you may not be travelling to. Ultimately we chose to fly as we felt the time could be better spent in Paris, even allowing for the 2.5 hours spent getting to the airports & check in times. If you fly from Orly, there are connector buses between airports

I would take the TGV from CDG. Start looking for PREM fares 3 months out from the travel date. It's relaxing, though a bit long, but IMO easier than changing airports in Paris and taking another flight.

Easyjet will be much cheaper. However, they do fly from Orley, which makes it a pain to transfer and jacks up your costs. Probably all three can fly for $390 and you will have change left. Look at skyscanner.com, ba.com, etc. closer to the first of the year for prices. Some airlines are not quoting fees yet. I did find Air France on May 7 for 85.00 per person from CDG. The day you fly makes a big difference. Flying the following Skyscanner lists KLM as flying also, but I could not get a price quote from them. To me, it would be worth paying more to fly from CDG and not having to get to Orly.

If the three children are adults, why don't <b>they</b> get themselves from CDG to Nice instead of Mom doing it for them?

If you were paying cash, Air France would fly them from Paris to Nice for free, or practically free. You don't say where your trip originates, but presuming it is North America, AF often books internal connections for very little extra above trans-Atlantic price. I checked a May date out of Detroit, connecting at CdG to Nice, and it was priced at about $50 more than terminating in CdG.
Your deal may be complicated by the offspring using your points, but it certainly could be worth checking with the airline.
