Getting from CDG to hotel?

Hello!

This will be our (my husband, 15 year old sister and I) first time in Paris and I am wondering what would be the best way to get to the hotel? We are staying at Hotel Sainte-Marie (at 6, rue de la Ville-Neuve). I would like it not to cost more than about $10 pp and be fairly easy. I know that the hotel has a metro stop near. But I am not sure how easy it would be to use. We are going on May 31-June 2 and then back to London. We won't have much luggage, probably just a small carryon or two between the three of us. Any advice you might have would be great! Thanks so much!

Jerilyn

(trying to figure out what to do without ever being there is too hard! lol)

Hi jamlynn,

If your'll go to $45, you could take a cab or a shuttle.

Cheaper rates are by RER or Air France bus. See

To get from the RER to your hotel by Metro see

I personally like the convenience of the shuttle (http://www.parishuttle.com/). I do see that the rates are now 18 E each for a party of 2-4; Mark Harris, who was/is (?) the manager used to give Fodor folks a small discount so ask if you call for reservations. Whenever I am new to an area, I opt for convenience and recoup the money elsewhere.

I'm a little confused about the above post. Is the suggestion that you could spend 54 euro for a shuttle that you call for when you arrive and maybe makes a few other stops on the way to your hotel instead of 45 euro for a taxi that you don't have to wait for and will take you directly to your hotel? I fail to see how that sums up to "convenience" especially since it will likely be more money and take longer. With three people I can't imagine taking the shuttle which will cost more than a private taxi.

Since you'll be traveling light, you could go the cheapest route which would mean taking the RER B from CDG to Gare du Nord, transfering there to Metro line 4 (direction Porte d'Orleans) to Strasbourg Saint-Denis (3rd stop), and transfering there to either Metro line 8 (direction Balard) or Metro line 9 (direction Pont de Sevres) to Bonne Nouvelle (one stop). You would have a three-block walk to your hotel. Cost: 7.70E/person.

Another option: Take the Roissybus from CDG to Place de l'Opera (closer to your hotel than the Air France coach routes). Cost: 8.20E/person. Then take a taxi to your hotel. For that short ride a taxi shouldn't cost your more than about 10E.

Following TimS instruction...you are still paying at least 34 Euro for 3 people! and schlepping..take a taxi..for 5 or so more euro more ..someone carries your bags , takes you right to where you want to go with no wait and maybe even gives you a tour to boot~!

You are first-timers...do you want to try to find your way on metros or buses when jet lagged? Cange you even imagine looking up all those metro canges? It is confusing enough when you are wide awake.

We've been to Paris at least 10 times and I still take a taxi, the 10 or so extra Euro is worth it..I'll make it up somewhere else if needed!

A point to add here is that there are unofficial "taxis" at the airport who will offer you a ride. For laughs, I've asked them how much and it's REALLY a bad deal -- probably double what you would pay for a regular taxi. Go to the taxi rang if you want a taxi and don't deal with the freelancers.

Thank you all for the tips. I was leaning towards the shuttle ideas, but now it looks like we will take a taxi. Thanks again! :)
