getting from CDG to Gare de Lyon
 

My wife and I are flying to Paris from Washington DC this Wednesday evening. We are planning to spend a few days in Dijon before heading back to Paris. We are scheduled to arrive at CDG terminal 1 at 0655 and have train tickets to Dijon from
Gare de Lyon at 1015. I see that it may snow a bit Wednesday night and Thursday morning so I would guess taking a taxi right from Terminal 1 to Gare de Lyon would be a bad idea. From some internet searches it looks like "RER B to RER D at Gare du Nord or RER B to RER A at Ch telet-les-Halles are the simple solutions for getting from CDG to Gare de Lyon." is the way to go. The information is a couple of years old. Does anyone have an opinion as
to which choice is better now. Also does the snow make a difference.

RER routes still valid and change is just one platform to another. Yes snow can snarl things even with a dusting. Full-proof way to easily get there and with two persons not much more than RER. www.ratp.fr for RER details but it is esy IME of doing it several times. (RER could also be affected by snow.)

The easiest method is to take Le Bus Direct #4 which stops in front of Gare de Lyon before continuing to Montparnasse. Non-stop except for the traffic.

But OP is worried about road snow snarls?

It would take a lot more snow than Paris typically gets to interfere with Le Bus Direct, which is definitely the most efficient way to get to the Gare de Lyon.

Thanks for the replies. The forecasts that I am seeing are talking about 3-5 cm or a couple of inches. In DC that would make travel on the highways a problem. Are you saying Paris can handle the snow without much problem?

The transfer from RER B to RER D at Gare du Nord is the easiest. They are on different sides of the same platform. The RER B has a blue stripe painted on the ground the length of the platform, and the RER D has a green stripe.

And keep your ticket until out of the system - you may need it to get out at Gare du Lyon turnstiles.

Thanks Kerouac, that is the information I was looking for. We will keep our tickets for exiting at Gare du Lyon. From memory I think a ticket is always needed to exit the rer system. From the ratp web site the trip should take less than an hour.

It looks like the snow will come in Wednesday overnight and just be messy by Thursday morning. Hopefully the train staff can get to work ok.
