Getting from Barcelona to Marbella
 

Does anyone know how to get from Barcelon to Marbella? Do we drive or fly? Any idea how far it is? Would we fly into and out of Barcelona? We'll be flying from the U.S.

We did (in 2005) what you are intending to do, and that was flying from Barcelona to Malaga and then back to Barcelona (that is, a Round trip JFK/Barcelona and a RT Barcelona/Malaga).

After touring Barcelona, we flew to Malaga on SpanAir and rented a car and drove to Granada, where we stayed as a base to explore Seville and Cordoba. Granada is awesome. We spent 1 night in Sevilla and drove to Marbella from there, but Marbella is very close to Malaga.

So for your trip, you can fly to Malaga from Barcelona and get to Marbella.

We booked a room in Barcelona on or return from Malaga/Marbella to break it up a bit.

If you want to see Valencia, perhaps you can drive....but flying to Malaga is a piece of cake and saves a lot of time if you want to get to Marbella.
