getting from Amalfi Coast to Rome
would appreciate suggestions on getting from Amalfi Coast to Rome.
not interested in renting car or taking a plane. |
Last month we made this trip by taking the ferry from Positano to Salerno and then taking the train to Rome. The ferry dock and the train station are about two blocks from each other. You might want to indicate where you're staying on the Amalfi Coast.

still trying to decide where i will be staying.
my plan is from Capri to go to Amalfi Coast still not sure where i will be staying after reading all forums it sounds like it maybe Positano. |
The route via Salerno is more direct, whether you choose to boat or bus to Salerno. If you want to avoid cars, either driven or self drive, the other route is via Sorrento on the Circumvesuviana to Naples, then Naples to Rome.
If you've got lots of baggage, then Salerno is the easiest route. |
lifeman want to make sure i understand info ..
would i be taking train from Salerno to Rome. thanks! |
Rml - Train Salerno-Rome is one option.
If arriving by ferry from Positano/Amalfi, Salerno station is a 5-mins walk from the ferry dock. For train timetables/fares see: www.trenitalia.com If you are travelling in high season, an alternative budget option (- convenient if you have luggage) is bus direct from Positano to Rome. It leaves Positano about 4p.m.; journey time approx 4.5 - 5 hrs. For details/fares see: www.marozzivt.it Hope this helps ... Steve |
