Getting around Bologna, esp to the Train Station
We plan to spend two weeks in Bologna this October, trying to live a bit like locals, while also using it as a base to explore the Emilia-Romagna region. Most of the accommodations I am considering are about a 20 minute walk from the train station. That sounds like a pleasant walk in the morning, but not necessarily in the evening after a long day of walking around another town.
Is the bus system pretty easy to figure out? Or are there always taxis around the train station to take us to the historic part of the city? Please don't slam us for not wanting to walk - trust me, we will be walking a lot! I really don't want to stay super close to the train station. Your thoughts would be appreciated. |
Taxis were always available at the train station and in the town center, close to the main square.
Although I can't recall how much I paid for the taxi fare, it seemed reasonable. |
The bus system is great, but whether it will work well for you depends on where your accommodations are. You'd have to study the timetables, find the distance of stops from your accommodations, etc. Unless accommodations are on/near certain main streets, you could still have a short walk.

That’s fine. Are the places between station and center or further out in other direction???
|
Yes, ek. Looking to stay in the part of the historic district closer to the station, not further out.
|
Well that should be good.....between the two.
|
Taxis are available right outside the train station. When I stayed there I did the same thing.
|
Yes, there is a taxi rank outside the train station, but each time I was there, I had to wait in long queues.

Has anyone used Uber in Boliogna?
