Getting an inexpensive car rental in France?
 

Would you please recomend the best way to keep my car rental charge low for a short term rental in France?<BR><BR>I have a car booked with Avis, but with taxes and fees, a tiny, manual car without air is running $160 for 2 days.<BR><BR>I am picking up at Caen and dropping off in Rennes. Would acutually like to have the car for about 2 days 1.5 hours, but would keep it for 2 days exactly for a savings.<BR><BR>Between the rental offices having limited hours, and with most charging for a minimum of 3 days, the options that I have found online have been pretty limited.<BR><BR>Merci!<BR><BR> Keith

Keith,<BR><BR>Just checked Kemwell. They have a three-day minimum on rentals. Their price is $108 for a Renault 2-door manual; a 4-door is $111. I believe the prices are without CDW. Their phone is: 877.820.0668.<BR><BR>I've used them a couple of times in England, Scotland, and France and found them to be less expensive than Avis, Hertz, etc. and reliable.

You should also get a quote from AutoEurope. I used them twice with no problems at all.

Kemwel and Autoeurope are owned by the same people and have merged operations to a degree.

We travelled to France 2 times last year and I've used Nova which operates out of Ireland. We had great luck with them--good service and their prices consistently beat AutoEurope. Many places won't do longer than a 3 day rental. So, just book for that and then drop off early.

Thanks for the tip. <BR><BR>Checked out Nova and they were cheaper than the reservation I had with AutoEurope, but after calling AutoEurope, they matched the price. <BR><BR>I'm happy for that, because with AutoEurope you pay upfront and with Nova you have to pay a deposit and the balance at the car rental agency.<BR><BR>I feel more confortable having the money part of the car rental out of the way. <BR><BR>Thanks for the tip.
