At the moment it is rainy and cold (max. 15 C). This will last at least till next Wednesday. There is a chance it might get warmer next weekend (max 22 C).

Look at the bright side. You can leave A/C off.

"Wolken und Regen: Nur im Norden etwas mehr Sonne Wechselnd bis stark bewölkt mit Schauern und Regen geht es ins Wochenende. Vor allem an der Ostsee gibt es längere Aufheiterungen. Bis 20, am Oberrhein bis 23 Grad."

That is from a current Internet weather service report, and suggests that other than around the Baltic the weather over this weekend and beyond is not conducive to wearing T-shirts.

However, whether you actually pack any depends very much on how long you plan to stay.

It has been terribly raining for days and it shall continue. So bring a large umbrella and a raincoat. I am very sorry. One day I will emigrate to a desert country.

Do keep in mind that weather forecasts can be WAY off.

When we travelled to Germany a few years ago, the weather had been cool (mid-60s F. highs) and the day we left the forecast was highs in the mid-60s to 70 for the next 10 days.

Well, when we arrived in Germany the next day, temps hit 75. Over the next few days it got warmer and warmed-low 80s, mid 80s, upper 80s. By about the 10th or 11th day (the day we drove from Colmberg to Beilstein on the Mosel) it hit 100. We had planned to make several stops on the drive, but instead stayed in our air conditioned car all the way.

We bought hot weather clothing on the fly.

>it hit 100
That's so funny...
rain, rain, more rain. I'm waiting for the first snow flakes this season. It's -13C on the Zugspitze. No summer this year.

logos--It wasn't funny the next day when we visited Burg Eltz with temperatures in the 90s. We ended up on the long trail to the castle, and it was the trek from hell.

Mrs. Fly had convinced me not to wear shorts so we wouldn't look so much like tourists. Of course, who the heck was going to Burg Eltz in June other than tourists?!?!?!?

you do plan ahead, dont you

logos999 May 27th, 2006 07:49 AM

Yeah, highs forcast 8,9 and 10 degrees beginning of next week. Those warm summer days were from a distant past. It's been one warmer day with 27C this year and even then it was overcast. Grey clouds and rain today, the last weeks and now.
I need to move to some place warmer.
Turn on the heating in the next week!

Have a great trip, we have been to Germany several times during this period in May and have roasted and have also needed a windbreaker. Just like home, the weather can go either way. Wear a short sleeve shirt with a sweater over and have roll-up windbreaker with you. You'll be coverd for all possibilities. Note to RufusTFirefly:
Have taken the long way(down the mountain) ourselves and it was the trek from Hell. Downhill was bad enough, I never thought I'd get back up the hill. I literally had to traverse the hill to make it. Warning to all, don't take the route that has you parking at the top of a hill and walking down, it is too terrible to explain. Starts as a paved walkway and rapidly turns to a steep, rutted, long horrible drop thru the forest. It must be at least mile down. Note: We saw 3 women walking down as we were coming back up. I would bet the farm that they never made it back up that hill. If there was some way to get a cab or hitch a ride, I'm sure they did. They had dresses on with HEELS.
