Dear nurse:

The Berg Hotel and the Marksturm would be my choice. Both are very nice & very cute.

Enter www.k-d.de, select English, then River cruise - Scheduled cruise - Timetable.

From Bacharach - at 10:15, 11:15, etc.
The cruise is less than an hour.

When we were there in May, we took another company that had also cruises, one of them named Romantic Lorelay..or something like this. During the cruise you receive explanations about the castels and the villages you see.
You can buy a ticket good also for return.

If you're interested in a nice little Gasthaus was immaculate and the beds were comfortable. Frau Weiss is was very helpful and speaks English. You can call ahead. The house itself is outside of the city wall and it's an easy and pretty little 4-5 minute walk to get to the city. You can get directions to her house from www.mappy.com

I just wondering why you aren't just driving up the Rhine? After all you'll have a car right?

nurseclm Aug 7th, 2006 11:51 PM

We do have car and a room in Bacharach. I just heard some of the Rhine area was boring although I found it facinating. Thanks to all again, leave in morning for Germany.
