Germany travel pass

Hi,

I am planning a 10- 12 day trip to germany mainly Frankfurt - Berlin - Dresden- Berlin (flying back from Berlin).

I am interested in seeing the old towns, berlin museum island, natural beauty (easy treks if any) around these places. (Dresden, Leipzig, Freiberg, Heidelberg etc)

Basically there would be travel intercity or inter towns (still have to figure that out)

I would like to know
1. if there is a Germany Travel Pass (like the Swiss Travel pass) valid on all public transport systems ? (like train, bus, tram, boat)

What I understand is that there is some pass (was not able to find all details) that is valid for such travel but not on the ICE trains.
2. So would i have to buy train tickets for Frankurt to berlin, berlin to dresden, Dresden to berlin on ICE trains or will the regional trains included in the pass work on those sectors ?

3. Also would the Pass if any be valid for train travel to places like Leipzig, Freiberg, Rothenbug, Quedlinberg Saxony-Aulhatt

Please feel free to suggest if these places are good and viable or i should choose other ones

Appreciate your advise

Thanks
Regards
Anshug

You have to remember to cancel the subscription to the Deutschland ticket or they will keep taking your money!

Also some areas have a free travel pass for tourists which you get from your registered lodging.

I can't help with passes, but it would make more sense to go Frankfurt-Dresden-Berlin, keeping all your Berlin nights together, which saves a hotel change. You lose time every time you change hotels.

I think it might be better to define first the places you want to visit.
For the places you mention the following itinerary could make sense:

FRA - Heidelberg -Rothenburg/Tauber - Nuremberg - Hof - Freiberg/Saxony - Dresden - Leipzig - Magdeburg - Quedlinburg - Magdeburg - Berlin.

There are tons of scenic medieval cities in Germany: impossible to mention them all!

I recalled seeing something on the news several months back that we need some types of registration (not a Visa) when traveling to Europe from the States, but I can't find any of that information on State Department Website. Help!
