Oh, and here's a great website for finding low cost airlines from airports all across Europe:

I have a question for you avid travellers. If you are scheduled for overnight-train or flight What does one do with their luggage from hotel checkout time(11am) to train or flight departure time (8pm)???

You can leave your luggage at the hotel until you are ready to leave the city. They have storage rooms for this purpose only. It's usually free of charge.

Thank you schuler!

Since we will only have 2 nights and 2 1/2days in Switz.
We are undecided whether to stay in Interlaken or venture to Lauterbrunnen or Wengen and stay there for better views.
Note : We will have to catch the overnight train to Rome at 9pm on the 3rd night.

Any suggestions?

Lauterbrunnen is a short 20 minute train ride from Interlaken and Wengen is only another 15 minutes by train from Lauterbrunnen. The scenery on the train in spectacular, so it's not like the travel time is wasted.

I thought Interlaken was pretty. I was taking a lot of pictures...and then we got on the train going up to Lauterbrunnen and Wengen. WOW. (Disclaimer: I live in a coastal area and have never seen snow-capped mountains in person before, so I was probably more impressed by the Alps than some other people.)

My decision is made. Off to to Wengen!

Thanks for input.

Now it's whether to get a train pass or buy train tickets individally as we need them?
Whats more cost effective. Plan to BETS

I hate to be a bubble buster, but Wengen is NOT halfway up the Eiger. You cannot even see it from there.

The views are better from Mürren anyhow.

Hi all,
A quick question regarding Eurail select pass for Germany /Switz/Rome...

Is the pass valid for unlimited sighting from & to Lautenbrunnen/ interlaken/Luzern/Murren etc?

Is it valid on the "Golden Pass" route?
Or do you have to purchase other passes for these excursions?
