Germany - Spagetti Ice Cream
When I was growing up in Frankfurt, I remember spagetti ice cream. Does anyone know what I am talking about? And if so do you know any places in Munich or Heidelberg that sell it?
TIA |
I saw it quite a lot in Germany last summer, so don't think it's so hard to find. Isn't it just like a sort of soft serve ice cream that comes out in strands like spaghetti? That's what it looked like.
I think you're talking about Vermicelli? I believe it's actually chestnut paste often served with lots of whipped cream on top.
You can find "Spaghetti-Eis" just about anywhere in German. And it IS ice cream.
Sad enough Spaghetti-Eis is a typical German product. I've never seen it anywhere else in Europe. |
I recall that it tasted quite yummy when I had it in a small town along the Rhine. (yes, it's ice cream)
Is it really ice cream, or one of those psuedo ice creams (ala dairy queen soft serve)? I saw it coming out of machines that looked like those.
It is indeed available in almost any Italian ice cream shop.
Usually it consists of vanilla ice cream pressed that it looks like spaghetti. It rests on some bed of whipped cream and is topped by strawberry sauce and sprinkled with either diced almonds or flakes of white chocolate (to resemble Parmigiano cheese). I think its delicious. |
Oh you guys are meeeeeeean.....
